answers to some of your questions

  • I offer a sliding fee scale, with a fee range from $150-$190 for standard 50-minute sessions.

You choose and agree to pay the amount that works for you, within that range.

Sometimes we may decide that a longer session makes sense for the work we want to do together; fees for longer sessions will be discussed in advance.

  • I am not in network with any insurance providers.

I am happy to provide a superbill for you to request out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance provider if you choose.

  • YES! I now offeri In-Person appointments at my office in central Austin.

I also offer telehealth (video) sessions —> Many people find meeting online can be just as impactful as meeting in person. In my experience, for some people meeting online dials down the anxiety that can be stirred up around vulnerability; for these people, there can sometimes be even more connection and movement with online therapy than in person!

I take the same care with telehealth/online sessions as I would with in-person meetings: I’ll show up and really engage with you, with creativity and focused attention.

I’ll check in about how the experience is working for you, and make adjustments as needed to be sure you feel a warm connection from me.

  • The office is located at 1007 MoPac Circle Suite 202. I share a small suite on the 2nd floor (stair access) of our building with two other therapists. There’s plenty of free parking available.

Let me know if you would like more specific driving directions - I’d be happy to walk you through how to get here :) Here we are on the map!

  • I’ll be ready to help you get oriented, learn more about you and answer your questions. You’ll get to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with on our first meeting. It’s a big deal just to show up!

We’ll decide together how we will focus our work and use our time. Some people find they are ready to talk and want to get right into it - while lots of other people feel a bit anxious and tremulous about getting started. You won’t be pressured by me - we’ll take the pace that works for you.

We do not need to jump right into all of the big feelings right away! I will not require you to tell me the whole story of your life at our first appointment.

We’ll take it as slowly as we need to, so that you have a chance to experience a bit of the relief you were looking for when you reached out.

  • There isn’t really a “typical” in terms of how long therapy lasts.

Some people find they get what they need in just a few weeks, but more often than that, I see people who are looking to dive more deeply into some of the complex and challenging aspects of their life experiences — and this takes time, usually 6 months to 1 year at minimum.

You have full authority to decide how long you’d like to stay in therapy. I will check in on how we’re doing regularly so I can best respond to your needs.

  • I received my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009.

I am licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas (License #53477).

In addition to providing psychotherapy for adults in agency and group practice settings, I have many years of experience as a social worker and clinician in various community settings (child & family support, housing, wraparound services for people impacted by poverty, trauma, substance use, and other complex issues).

  • I use an approach that is grounded in the therapeutic relationship, informed by interpersonal neurobiology, trauma theory, depth psychology, attachment theory and parts work.

I also offer in-person clients the opportunity to explore Sandtray therapy with me.

I’m currently learning more about Gestalt theory, Narrative therapy, and integrative ways to incorporate creativity into psychodynamic work.

I am trained in EMDR, but use this intervention sparingly and only within the frame of long-term therapy work.

*If you are interested in EMDR, ask me about my about my approach, and let’s see if what I offer meets what you’re looking for.

  • If I do not have an opening at the time you reach out, I’ll let you know via email, and do my best to provide general referrals to other therapy options in the community.

“Where are we?” asked Beatrice. “We are very close,” said Walter B. They stared steadily ahead. “Where is very close?” asked Beatrice. “It is right before,” said Walter B., “we get there.” Beatrice’s imagination zoomed past them….
